AC Milan has officially parted ways with head coach Sergio Conceicao after just a few months in charge.
The Portuguese manager joined the club in December 2024 and helped Milan finish eighth in the Serie A this season. On Thursday, the club released a short statement confirming that they will not continue with Conceicao next season.
“AC Milan and Sergio Conceicao will not continue their journey together next season,” the club said on its website. “We thank Sergio and his staff for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication during their time with the First Team.”
Reports in Italy suggest former Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri could return to the club. Allegri, 57, previously led Milan to the Serie A title in 2011 and later won five league titles with Juventus.
Conceicao, 50, had signed a deal that was supposed to run until the end of next season. He replaced fellow Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca and started his time at Milan with a victory in the Italian Super Cup. He also guided the team to the Italian Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Bologna on May 14.
During his time in charge, Conceicao led the team in 31 matches, securing 16 wins, 7 losses, and 8 draws across all competitions. In the league, Milan remained in eighth place from when he took over until the end of the season.
After their final match, Milan defender Matteo Gabbia summed up the team’s performance, saying, “It’s been a bad season. We couldn’t give our best. We expected more from a team with so much talent.”
