.Martin Kemp has been rushed to hospital following a shocking chainsaw accident at his home.
The 64-year-old star sent a photo of his heavily bandaged fingers to his son, Roman Kemp, who shared the story on the You About podcast with Tom Grennan.
Roman explained that his father had picked up the chainsaw by the blade while trying to cut a branch, narrowly avoiding a more serious injury. “It’s lucky he’s not fingerless,” Roman said.
He recalled seeing the photo for the first time: “Friday night, I’d just finished work and looked at my phone. Dad had sent a picture of his hand with all fingers heavily strapped up. And all he writes underneath in the family WhatsApp group is ‘Yep… chainsaw.’”
Roman added that he and his sister Harley tried to get answers but initially received no reply. Eventually, Martin explained that he had been cutting down a branch with the chainsaw.
“My first issue was him handling a chainsaw in the first place,” Roman said. “He’s 65. He’s got more than enough money. Get a professional in, you can’t be doing that.”
Martin himself admitted, “Oh yeah, I picked it up by the blade.”
The mishap has left Roman and others worried about his ability to play guitar, with Tom joking that Martin’s wife wouldn’t be happy if he had lost his fingers.
