Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has announced that he will release his first official collaboration with his former record label boss, Olamide, years after leaving YBNL Nation.

The singer shared the news on Instagram on Monday, revealing that the track, titled “Formation”, is set for release on April 9. “First time, me and @olamide… Formation. April 9,” he wrote.

Adekunle Gold, born Adekunle Kosoko, first rose to prominence with his hit ‘Sade’, a highlife cover of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’, in 2015. He signed with YBNL Nation that same year and released his debut album ‘Gold’ before exiting the label after his contract expired.

In July 2024, Gold expressed gratitude to Olamide for recognizing his talents beyond graphic design and welcoming him into YBNL. He recounted that his breakthrough came after producer Pheelz heard ‘Sade’ and shared it with Olamide, who promptly signed him.

Olamide, who founded YBNL in 2012, has previously stated that the label was created to encourage young talent while avoiding extravagant spending.
