Nigerian music icon 2Baba (formerly known as 2Face Idibia) recently opened up about the mixed legacy of his 2004 smash hit, African Queen.
He described the track as “a very huge blessing” because it launched his career into the international spotlight earning him accolades and recognition across Africa and beyond.
Yet, he also admitted that the same song has become something of a burden: its towering success now sets a yardstick that all his subsequent works are compared against making it hard for other songs to escape its shadow.
