Nigerian singer Slimcase has expressed concern over the state of Afrobeats, saying that too many songs and albums are being released, making the genre less exciting.

In a post on his Instagram story, Slimcase said artistes are putting themselves under unnecessary pressure to constantly drop new projects.

“Too many songs, too many albums. You all are stressing yourselves too much in this Nigeria. Take a chill pill and be like Rihanna — do other things and come back with a fresh vibe,” he wrote.

The singer added that the constant flow of new releases is hurting creativity in the industry.

“Your sounds are getting boring because you release too much in a year. It’s only God that is new every morning. These endless singles and albums are gradually killing Afrobeats — it’s not fun anymore,” he said
