Ariana Grande was overcome with emotion as she performed the final show of her Eternal Sunshine tour in London, marking the end of her latest global concert run before stepping away from the spotlight.
The singer, 33, became tearful during the closing night at the O2 Arena on Tuesday as she thanked fans for their support throughout the three-month tour.
Grande told the audience the experience had been one of the most meaningful moments of her career and expressed gratitude to those who had followed her journey.
“It’s been the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life and I just want to express my gratitude without sobbing,” she said.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart, it has been so special and I’ll cherish this experience always. I have the best fans in the entire world and I always have.”
The pop star, who has announced plans to take a break from showbusiness, struggled to hold back tears as she performed One Last Time, eventually asking fans to help sing along.
She ended the emotional night by thanking supporters who had been with her throughout her career, saying: “Thank you for being by my side all the way from Honeymoon Avenue to Hampstead.”
The final performance came shortly after Grande revealed that her planned career hiatus was a decision she had considered for a long time and was not a reaction to criticism or negativity.
The singer previously explained that the break was a personal choice made from a “thoughtful and empowered place”, adding that she needed time away from the demands of public life.
“Human beings can need a break sometimes,” she said while addressing fans during the tour.
Grande also reassured supporters that the decision did not mean she was unhappy with her career, describing the Eternal Sunshine tour as one of the most healing and rewarding experiences of her professional life.
The tour, which began in North America in June, saw the singer perform across several locations worldwide.
During the final shows, Grande also performed while recovering from a foot injury. She revealed that she had suffered a deep cut and temporarily replaced her trademark high heels with Ugg boots while continuing her performances.
The career break will also see Grande step away from her planned role in the London production of Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican Centre in 2027.
Her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey, who was expected to appear alongside her in the production, later announced that he would also withdraw from the project.
Bailey said he supported Grande’s decision and described her as one of his closest friends.
Grande’s upcoming hiatus marks a temporary retreat from the spotlight after years of success as a singer, actress and performer.
