Arsenal matched a 122-year-old club record on Tuesday night after beating Slavia Prague 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League.

The win means the Gunners have now gone eight straight games without conceding a goal, equaling a record set back in 1903. The victory also keeps them top of their Champions League group with four wins from four matches.

With main striker Viktor Gyokeres injured, Mikel Merino stepped up, scoring twice in the second half after Bukayo Saka opened the scoring in the 32nd minute from the penalty spot.

Arsenal also made history when 15-year-old Max Dowman came on in the second half, becoming the youngest-ever player in the Champions League. He broke the previous record held by Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko.

Aside from a late penalty appeal overturned by VAR, Arsenal dominated the match, leaving goalkeeper David Raya with little to do. They have now won their last 10 games in all competitions.

Manager Mikel Arteta praised his players after the game.

“Emotionally I think we handled it very well. It shows the consistency we have,” he said. “We dominated defensively against a tough team. The players who came in did really well — a productive evening overall.”
