Nigeria’s own rising Afrobeats queen, Ayra Starr, has officially made the move to New York City and according to her, the Big Apple reminds her a little too much of home sweet Lagos.

In a recent interview, the 23-year-old star revealed she’s been living in NYC for “less than two months,” though she admitted the shift wasn’t dramatic she’s “always in New York regardless.”   She said New York’s hustle, rhythm and cultural pulse echoes the energy of Lagos, and with a thriving African diaspora there, the city “just feels like home.”

For Ayra, the relocation isn’t just about changing zip codes. It’s a calculated move aimed at breaking more walls, pushing her sound to a global audience and taking her artistry to towering new heights.

Whether she’s vibing with the Big Apple’s lights or continuing to drop bangers, one thing is clear her spirit remains Lagos-born, but the world just became her stage.
