Bayern Munich produced a devastating attacking display on Tuesday night, thrashing Atalanta BC 6–1 in Bergamo to take firm control of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg clash.

The German champions wasted no time asserting dominance, overwhelming their Italian hosts with relentless pressure from the opening minutes.

Defender Josip Stanišić opened the floodgates in the 12th minute, tapping home from close range after a corner kick to give Bayern an early lead.

Bayern doubled their advantage soon after through Michael Olise, who fired a powerful strike from outside the box before turning provider moments later for Serge Gnabry to make it 3–0 midway through the first half.

The visitors continued their dominance after the break. Nicolas Jackson finished off a swift counterattack early in the second half to extend Bayern’s lead to four goals.

Olise then grabbed his second of the night in the 64th minute, before Jamal Musiala added another shortly afterwards to cap a ruthless attacking performance.

Atalanta managed a late consolation through Mario Pašalić in stoppage time, but the goal did little to ease the humiliation for the Italian side in front of their home fans.

The emphatic victory leaves Bayern firmly in command ahead of the return leg in Munich, with the German giants now widely expected to seal a place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
