Nigerian street-pop star Bella Shmurda has shared a deeper perspective on the power of music, describing it as more than just entertainment but a vital instrument for survival and social impact.

Speaking during the For Bunmi documentary, the singer explained that music plays a crucial role in shaping emotions, influencing society, and helping people navigate life’s challenges. According to him, sound can uplift, heal, and even serve as a form of resistance in difficult times.

He emphasized that music acts as a tool for progress and goodwill, capable of keeping people mentally balanced while offering an escape from hardship. In his words, it helps individuals “stay sane,” find joy, and reconnect with themselves despite life’s struggles.

Bella also noted that this understanding has made him more intentional about the kind of music he creates. He wants his work to carry meaning and leave a legacy his future children can be proud of, reflecting both personal growth and responsibility as an artist.

The artist’s remarks highlight a broader conversation in the music industry where sound is increasingly seen not just as entertainment, but as a powerful force for expression, healing, and survival.
