Nollywood actress, Biola Bayo, has expressed frustration over the high cost of asoebi, saying she can no longer keep up with the trend.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Biola revealed that she has about eight events to attend before the end of the year, with the asoebi for all costing nearly ₦2 million.
The actress said it has become financially draining to keep buying expensive fabrics that are often worn only once.
“Please, nobody should take this personal with me. I cannot afford it, please! If you give me, I’ll gladly make my iro and buba to come honour you,” she wrote.
“I have enough responsibilities than spending so much on clothes that I can hardly wear twice,” she added.
Biola also explained that attending parties has never been about luxury or enjoyment for her but a way of showing respect to those who invite her.
She appealed to friends and colleagues to understand her situation, saying she still wants to honour invitations without being pressured by expensive dress codes.
