Maddox Jolie, the eldest son of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has reportedly dropped his father’s famous surname “Pitt,” marking another shift in the family’s public evolution following the couple’s high-profile divorce.

According to recent reports, the 24-year-old was credited in his mother’s new film Couture simply as Maddox Jolie  a departure from his earlier screen credits where he was listed as “Maddox Jolie-Pitt.”  The movie, which debuted in French cinemas in February 2026 after its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025, shows his updated name in the end credits  a move that has drawn attention online.

Maddox, who worked as an assistant director on the project, appears to be following the trend started by some of his siblings: his sister Shiloh legally changed her surname to Jolie after turning 18 in 2024, and sisters Zahara and Vivienne have also been credited with versions of the Jolie name in recent years.

The Jolie-Pitt children’s decision to drop the “Pitt” name comes in the aftermath of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s lengthy and public separation and divorce, which was finalized in 2024 after a decade of legal battles and custody disputes.  The changes have sparked widespread discussion about family dynamics and how the children are choosing to define themselves as adults separate from their famous father.
