Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has disclosed that he and the late South African rapper AKA resolved their feud before AKA’s death in February 2023. The two artists had a public falling out in 2019.

The reconciliation was revealed in a posthumous birthday message Burna Boy shared on his Instagram page. He expressed regret that they didn’t have the chance to collaborate on projects.

The feud began in 2019 when Burna Boy threatened AKA following reports that AKA had encouraged xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa. The conflict stemmed from online interactions and reactions to a soccer match.

AKA was shot dead outside a restaurant in Durban on February 10, 2023. The investigation into his murder is ongoing. Burna Boy’s message highlighted their reconciliation, a detail previously unknown to the public.
