Burna Boy’s sister, Ronami Ogulu, has explained why the Grammy-winning singer spends more time touring than recording in the studio.
She said the reason is tied to their family’s love for live music, which started long before Burna Boy became famous.
According to her, their mother, Bose Ogulu, built more than just a management team — she created a legacy focused on live performance and authenticity. Ronami also credited their uncle, Uncle Tee, for helping to form Burna Boy’s first live band.
“My mum’s younger brother literally scouted everyone from his church,” she said.
Ronami explained that this early focus on live music became the heart of Burna Boy’s career.
“All of that contributed to the intention of what started today. The goal has always been live music, not just studio recording,” she said.
She added that this is why Burna Boy spends so much time on tour, which often surprises fans who expect him to be in the studio more.
“I think that’s why many people are always confused, asking, ‘Why are you always on tour? Why are you guys always on the road?’ The intention has never really been about going to a studio in LA and sitting there for months,” she explained.
