Several Nigerian celebrities have condemned the recent deadly attack in Jos, Plateau State, expressing grief over the loss of lives and calling for urgent government action.
The incident, which occurred around 8 p.m. on Sunday in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area, left at least 22 people dead, while several others sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals. In response, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew across the affected area to restore order.
Among those who reacted was Jos-born rapper Ice Prince, who lamented the recurring violence in the region. “Since 2001, Jos, Jos, Jos. My people have suffered too much… Thoughts and prayers,” he wrote.
Actor and activist Mr Macaroni criticised the Federal Government, expressing concern over what he described as a lack of response from the presidency. In a series of posts, he questioned the absence of an official address following the tragedy and described the situation as deeply troubling.
Similarly, music star Peter Okoye shared his sorrow, stating that his thoughts and prayers are with the people of Jos.
On his part, gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey offered prayers for peace and restoration, declaring that the forces of evil would not prevail over the city.
Also reacting, Jerry Eze, lead pastor of Streams of Joy International, prayed against further violence and called for divine intervention.
