Veteran entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has reacted to the renaming of the Charly Boy Bus Stop in Bariga, Lagos, by describing the move as “silly and petty.”

The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) recently changed the name of the popular bus stop to “Olamide Bus Stop,” in honour of rapper Olamide Adedeji, who hails from the area. According to the council chairman, the renaming is part of an effort to recognise local figures doing remarkable work both locally and globally.

Reacting during an interview with News Central on Sunday, July 28, Charly Boy said:
“The fact that my bus stop was renamed is neither here nor there. Whatever we can do to help Nigerians, this is what it is about. I just believe that was a little bit silly, a little bit petty. Because if it is about what one has done for that community, go and verify, you can’t touch my records.”

The entertainer’s comments were shared alongside a video posted on Instagram
