Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has carved her name into football history after finishing 4th in the first-ever edition of the Women’s Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or 2025 ceremony in Paris.
The award, created by France Football and named after legendary Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin, honours the best shot-stoppers in the world. This year marked the introduction of a women’s category, giving female goalkeepers global recognition on the same stage as their male counterparts.
Nnadozie, who plies her trade with Paris FC in the French Division 1 Féminine, stood tall among the nominees and emerged in the top five, a feat that has earned her praise across Nigeria and Africa.
The 24-year-old has been a standout performer for both club and country, with commanding displays at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and her exploits in European competition catching the eyes of global football observers.
Her recognition marks a major milestone for African women’s football, placing Nigeria firmly on the global map and inspiring the next generation of players.
