CKay ends deal with Warner Music SA

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Chukwuka Ekweani, better known as CKay, has officially ended his recording contract with Warner Music South Africa.

The news was confirmed in a statement sent to Punch at the early hours on Friday.

CKay, whose songs like Love Nwantiti and Emiliana have earned billions of streams worldwide, described the split as “mutual and strategic.”

“Every journey has a beginning and an end. My time with Warner Music South Africa was an important one, and I’m grateful for it. Now it’s time to explore new energy and new horizons,” he said.

CKay is known for blending Afrobeat with different music styles and pushing African music onto the world stage.

A source close to the singer, who asked not to be named, hinted that CKay will soon make a major announcement. “Fans can expect fresh music and a new direction in the coming weeks,” the source said.

With more than two billion streams to his name, CKay remains one of Africa’s top music exports, and fans around the world are eager to see what comes next.
