Cristiano Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, has earned his first call-up to Portugal’s Under-16 national team after a string of impressive performances in Saudi Arabia.

The 15-year-old, who currently plays for Al-Nassr’s youth team alongside his famous father, was named in a 22-man squad for the upcoming Federations Cup Tournament, where Portugal will face Turkey, Wales, and England from October 30 to November 4.

Ronaldo Jr’s selection comes just months after he featured for Portugal’s Under-15 team in May, raising hopes that he could one day share the pitch with his legendary father — though that seems unlikely, as Ronaldo Sr will turn 41 in February.

Despite his age, Ronaldo Sr is still breaking records. He recently scored twice against Hungary to become the all-time leading scorer in World Cup qualifying history, bringing his total career goals to an incredible 949.

Ronaldo Jr, known as Cristianinho in Portugal, has already followed in his father’s footsteps. He has worn the No. 7 jersey and played as a left winger, just like his dad. The youngster has also spent time in the youth academies of Juventus and Manchester United, two clubs his father played for before joining Al-Nassr in December 2022.

He recently featured in a 4–1 win against Japan for the Under-15s, with his grandmother Dolores Aveiro watching proudly from the stands. Scouts from Manchester United and other top European clubs were also present at the match.

Proud father Cristiano Ronaldo Sr shared his excitement on Instagram after his son’s international debut, writing:

“Congratulations on your debut for Portugal, son. Very proud of you.”

Ronaldo Sr, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has made 225 appearances and scored 143 goals for Portugal — both national records. As he aims for a record sixth World Cup appearance next summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, his son is just beginning to carve out a football journey of his own.
