A social media activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused the Dangote Group of neglecting a 22-year-old woman hospitalized at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Auchi, Edo State.

The victim, reportedly crushed by a Dangote truck driver while heading for her academic project, has been in the hospital for 11 months, with medical bills exceeding N5 million.

In a video shared on Instagram on Monday, VeryDarkMan alleged that the company’s management has failed to take responsibility for the victim’s care. “On reaching the hospital, we met an abandoned victim of Dangote’s reckless unlicensed driver.

She has been in the hospital for 11 months with bills of over N5 million; Dangote has abandoned her,” he wrote. The activist also joined a protest in Auchi, demanding that the company provide support for all victims of accidents caused by its trucks.

Meanwhile, the Dangote Group has yet to respond to these allegations.

This incident comes shortly after Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna Otabor called out the company following a similar accident involving her sister, Ruth Otabor, who was struck by a Dangote truck in the same area. The company had pledged to cover Ruth’s medical expenses three days ago.

The controversy arises as Dangote Group prepares to deploy 4,000 new compressed natural gas trucks for fuel distribution. However, the initiative, initially scheduled for August 15, has faced delays. Public scrutiny over the safety and management of Dangote trucks has intensified following these recurring accidents.
