Afrobeats superstar Davido is back on X, firing shots at Jubril A. Gawat, Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over a Wizkid promo post.
It all started when Gawat shared a poster for Wizkid’s December 28 TBS show with the caption: “Ọmọ Wa ni 🔥🔥🔥”. A fan chimed in: “Wizkid is the face of Lagos. Baba Bolu always promote Lagos.” Gawat replied: “Yes correct. We are proud of him.”
Another fan asked: “Ore oga nko?” — basically asking about Davido — and Gawat responded: “My Oga is proud of him.” That was all Davido needed. The singer clapped back, quoting Gawat: “Bro it’s been a year let it go … why e still dey do u .. grow up.”
Not stopping there, Davido also referenced another Gawat tweet that said: “Ọrẹ Ọga wa ni 🤣🤣”, adding: “Since yesterday… let it go nah … cheer up.”
This isn’t the first time the two have clashed online. On September 21, 2024, Davido and Gawat went at it over politics. The fight started after Davido called INEC “the most dangerous institution in Nigeria”, amid tensions in the Edo State governorship election.
Gawat, a die-hard APC member, shot back: “This tweet means ONLY one thing.” Davido, supporting Edo PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo, fired: “U go dey here dey tweet nonsense but any time I’m around your principal, nah you go first carry phone with flash like okirika dey blind person eye.”
Gawat retaliated by sharing a video of Davido at his wedding, hailing Governor Sanwo-Olu as “the real 001”.
Now, the Wizkid promo flap has reopened old wounds, proving that Davido and Gawat’s social media saga is far from over — and fans are watching every move.
