Nigerian singer Skales has criticised socialite Cubana Chief Priest over his controversial claim that the recent deadly attack in Jos was meant to embarrass President Bola Tinubu on his 74th birthday.

The attack occurred on the evening of March 29 in the Gari Ya Waye area of Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, leaving more than 20 people dead and several others injured. Families were forced to flee as gunfire echoed through the community. The tragedy drew widespread condemnation from celebrities including rapper Ice Prince, actor and activist Mr. Macaroni, and singer Peter Okoye.

In an Instagram post, Cubana Chief Priest expressed his distress over a viral video showing a mother and her child and criticised the state governor for allegedly appearing more fearful than the residents. He claimed the attack highlighted the failure of security agencies and described the situation as “an embarrassment to our president on his birthday.”

He wrote, “This was clearly done to embarrass our president on his birthday. Security agencies should brace up to their task… I pray God gives President Tinubu the energy to select people capable to lead with him. May the soul of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.”

In response, Skales rejected Chief Priest’s interpretation, calling it insensitive and inappropriate. “This guy is delusional … life’s lost and all you care about is the president being embarrassed… where is your conscience?” he wrote, emphasising the human tragedy over political implications.
