Former NBA star Marcus Morris Sr. has been arrested in Florida on a fraud-related charge.

The 35-year-old was taken into custody on Sunday, July 27, in Broward County. According to USA Today, he was arrested for allegedly writing a check that could not be cleared due to insufficient funds.

His twin brother, Markieff Morris, confirmed the arrest in a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying it happened at an airport and suggesting the situation was not serious.

“The wording is crazy. Damn, for that amount of money they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family,” Markieff wrote.

Marcus Morris Sr. is a 13-year NBA veteran. He played for several teams including the Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and most recently the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2023–2024 season. He also appeared as a guest analyst on ESPN last season.

In 2015, Marcus and his brother were charged with aggravated assault after being accused of beating a man outside a basketball tournament in Phoenix. They were both cleared of the charges in 2017.

As of now, Marcus has not made a public comment about the latest incident.
