Donald Trump has blasted the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, calling the star-studded ceremony “virtually unwatchable” and threatening legal action against host Trevor Noah after jokes made during the live broadcast.
The controversy erupted after Noah, in his final year hosting the show, made a quip referencing Trump and former President Bill Clinton while announcing the Song of the Year winner. Trump responded on his social platform by labelling the remarks “false and defamatory,” denying ever visiting Jeffrey Epstein’s private island and signalling he’ll consult lawyers about possible action.
In the same posts, Trump didn’t spare criticism of the awards telecast itself, describing it as one of the “worst” shows and comparing Noah unfavourably to other late-night hosts.
The Grammys, held on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, also had broader political moments, with several artists taking the stage to address social issues prompting a wider backlash from Trump and his supporters.
