Armed men attacked the family home of suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on Tuesday night, June 17, 2025. The incident happened in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
This is the second time in two months that the senator’s family house has come under attack.
According to reports, the attackers destroyed several windows during the assault before they were chased away by police officers, local vigilantes, and youths from the community.
The spokesperson of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Aya, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, June 18. He said one suspect, identified as Jose Suberu, was arrested at the scene.
“Yes, it’s true. One suspect, Joe Suberu, was arrested. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the others who escaped,” Aya stated.
A statement from Senator Natasha’s media office confirmed the attack and revealed that the suspect caught at the scene is a local resident. He allegedly confessed to taking part in two previous attacks on the home.
The statement added that Suberu, believed to be involved in ritual activities, was nearly lynched by an angry mob before he was rescued by security forces and handed over to the police.
A cutlass and some charms were reportedly found on him. Other members of the gang, who are said to be armed with dangerous weapons, are still on the run as of the time of this report.
