Renowned chef Hilda Baci just set the culinary world ablaze at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos on September 12, 2025, with her record-shattering attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Here’s what went into this monumental feast:
•4,000 kg of washed basmati rice
•612 kg of oil
•800 kg Gino Asun peppered chicken + party jollof mix
•600 kg of Hilda’s signature jollof pepper mix
•220 kg chicken cubes (Gino Asun & peppered)
•300 kg onion, garlic & ginger blend
•164 kg fresh goat meat
•Plus 1,200 kg of gas to fire up the pot, and just a sprinkle of curry and thyme (20 g curry, 7 g thyme) to flavor each bite.
After 9 hours of sweat, passion, and teamwork, Hilda and her crew served over 16,600 plates of jollofeach one made with “joy, love, and community.”
This wasn’t just about food. It was a bold statement of culture, collaboration, and national pride
