Hollywood Mourns: ‘The Wire’ Star James Ransone Dies at 46

Hollywood has been rocked by the tragic death of actor James Ransone, best known for his breakout role as Ziggy Sobotka on The Wire and memorable turns in films like It: Chapter Two, The Black Phone, and the HBO war drama Generation Kill. The **Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed Ransone died by suicide by hanging on December 19, 2025, at the age of 46.  


Ransone’s powerful performances and range earned him respect across film and television from gritty dramas to horror favorites and his sudden passing has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans, co-stars, and directors alike.
