How ex-Premier League stars lost millions in financial scam

A group of former Premier League footballers, including Danny Murphy, Michael Thomas, and Rod Wallace, claim they lost tens of millions of pounds due to allegedly bad financial advice from Kingsbridge Asset Management.

The players, part of the V11 campaign group, invested with Kingsbridge in the 1990s and 2000s.

Murphy, a former England midfielder and current Match of the Day pundit, estimates he lost around £5m due to “financial abuse.” However, David McKee and Kevin McMenamin, the directors of Kingsbridge, deny any wrongdoing, stating they advised clients in good faith and outlined investment risks.

Up to 200 footballers may have been affected, with some losing their homes and facing bankruptcy. Despite being told by City of London Police they were “victims of crime,” many are now being pursued for millions in tax. The V11 campaign group is seeking justice and compensation for the alleged financial mismanagement.
