Popular Nigerian cleric and relationship coach, Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, has revealed how his wife helped him understand how to properly express love during their early relationship.
The pastor, who recently drew public attention after getting a tattoo on his arm to celebrate his 50th birthday, shared the experience during a recent interview.
According to him, while they were dating, he did not understand the need for constant communication in a relationship.
“My wife had to teach me how to love her. When we were dating, if I saw her on a Monday, I wouldn’t call her again until I was seeing her next,” he said.
Okonkwo explained that his upbringing influenced his behaviour. He said he grew up in a home with five boys, while his mother — the only woman in the house — was very strict because she was a soldier.
He said this background made it difficult for him to naturally express emotional affection until his wife guided him.
The cleric also advised women to communicate their expectations clearly to their partners.
According to him, men do not always understand emotional needs, urging women to express what they want calmly and with love rather than in a harsh manner.
