Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed he was on the verge of leaving the music scene shortly before the release of his chart-topping song “With You” featuring Omah Lay.
In a recent interview, the multiple award-winning artist confessed that he never expected the track to become a standout hit.
Davido explained that the massive success of the song reignited his passion for music when he was contemplating stepping back after more than a decade in the industry. He described the timing of the hit as “divine,” emphasizing that it came just as he was preparing to slow down.
“Some artists get that kind of song at the start of their careers, others in the middle. For me, 13–14 years in, I was even thinking of bowing out. Then God blessed me with this song. It added more life to my journey,” Davido said, reflecting on his career. He also noted how rare it is for an artist to enjoy such a breakthrough this far into their career.
