Nigerian singer Awosika Olayemi Josiah, popularly known as Fido, has stunned fans after revealing he once earned close to ₦1 billion from music in just a single month.

The fast-rising artist made the revelation during a live session with content creator Shank, where he was asked about the highest amount he had ever made within a short period. Without hesitation, Fido disclosed that his earnings during one particular month came close to the billion-naira mark.

According to him, the figure included both his income and expenses during that period, emphasizing just how lucrative that phase of his career was. His exact words in pidgin captured the moment: he made “almost a billion naira… with the spending and income.”

Fido, who gained attention with hit songs like Awolowo and Joy Is Coming, has built his career largely as an independent artist, navigating the industry without being tied to a major label.

His journey hasn’t been without controversy, though. In the past, he accused a former marketing company of financial mismanagement and claimed he received only a small fraction of an advance tied to one of his hit songs.

Despite those challenges, the singer has continued to grow, even securing partnerships that signal a bigger global push for his music. His recent statement about earning nearly ₦1 billion in a month has now sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans both amazed and curious about the scale of money in the music industry.

The revelation adds to the ongoing conversation about how lucrative Afrobeats has become, especially for artists who manage to break into mainstream success.
