Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has denied claims that he enlisted 10 men to attack DJ Tunez during a recent physical altercation at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos.

The confrontation, which occurred on Monday, reportedly began as a heated argument before escalating physically. Speculation online has linked the incident to longstanding industry rivalries, particularly due to DJ Tunez’s close association with Wizkid, a frequent target of fan comparisons with Burna Boy.

Wizkid reacted to the incident on Wednesday, calling Burna Boy a “coward” for allegedly attacking Tunez with the help of ten men.

However, in a recent Instagram live video with fellow singer Shallipopi, Burna Boy insisted he acted alone.

“Shalli, it was not 10 people that touched that guy, it was only me. I swear by my mother. If I am lying, let Ogun take my mother to wherever Wizkid’s mother is. It was only me, and I gave him two slaps,” he said.

The altercation has also included public digs from both parties. DJ Tunez, also known as Ogbafia, earlier referred to Burna Boy as a “coward” and posted All Signs of Weakness — a play on Burna Boy’s album No Sign of Weakness. Burna Boy responded with a mocking video in which he danced to Money Constant by DJ Tunez featuring Wizkid, DJ Maphorisa, and Mavo, changing lyrics to jab at DJ Tunez.

The controversy intensified on Tuesday when the Nigerian DJ Association announced a ban on Burna Boy’s music, further fueling the public debate on social media.
