Mavin Records artiste, Crayon, has been left shattered after losing his mother, Evelyn Chukwu, just four days before his birthday.

The Ngozi crooner, who couldn’t hold back tears, shared a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram as he laid his mother to rest, describing her as his “soldier, backbone, angel, and pillar.”

“July 4th was the darkest day of my life. I lost my soldier, my backbone, my angel and my pillar. My best friend, the best woman I have ever loved… I lost my mum,” he wrote.

Crayon revealed on his socials, that his mother had called and prayed for him only days before her death — a prayer he now realizes was her last. “You sounded so healthy and like nothing was wrong. Only for my whole world to suddenly crumble right in front of me,” he added.

The singer said her sudden death broke him completely, leaving him questioning God and the meaning of his success. “After all the suffer wey we don suffer for decades, na now wey God don bless us, you come die leave me? Wetin come be the need?” he lamented.

Crayon said watching his mother’s lifeless body on the hospital bed was the most painful moment of his life. “Ah mummy, seeing you lie lifeless on that hospital bed broke me to pieces. It was my greatest fear,” he said.

Despite the pain, the Mavin star vowed to stay strong for his family and honour her memory through music. “I promise to take care of Naza and the rest of the family. I love you so much and I miss you every day! Till we meet again my angel,” he wrote.
