Nottingham Forest have appointed Australian coach Ange Postecoglou as their new manager, three months after he left Tottenham Hotspur.
Postecoglou, 60, takes over following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo, who spent 21 months in charge at the City Ground. His first game in charge will be Forest’s trip to Arsenal on Saturday.
Speaking at his unveiling, Postecoglou said he doesn’t feel the need to prove anything. “I don’t have to prove anything to anyone,” he said. “I like my teams to play exciting football, score goals, and get fans excited. That’s just the way I am.”
Postecoglou arrives at Forest after a difficult season with Tottenham, where despite winning the Europa League in May—ending Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought—the club finished 17th in the Premier League.
Known for his attacking style and high-intensity football, Postecoglou joked that he would soon discover “who the true Ange believers” are at Forest.
He also reflected on his history of winning trophies. “I’ve always won a trophy in my second season at a club. But I’ve also won titles in my first season, like the double with Celtic. I want to continue that here,” he said.
Postecoglou has previously won league titles in Australia, Japan, and Scotland, and his record shows he often finds success in his first or second season at a club.
The Australian coach said he didn’t expect his time at Spurs to end after winning a trophy but remains positive about his future at Forest. “I love creating things that are lasting,” he said.
