Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has revealed that peer pressure played a major role in her decision to undergo a Brazilian Butt Lift, popularly known as BBL.
The reality TV star and media personality made the confession during an interview with Korty EO, where she opened up about the procedure, the pain that followed and why she eventually became happy with the result.
Mercy said that at the time she went for the surgery, BBL was already becoming a major trend among women, especially in the entertainment and social media space.
According to her, she already had a beautiful body before the procedure, but the pressure around her and the popularity of the trend influenced her decision.
“At the time, it was just the trend, maybe peer pressure, because I have a beautiful body,” she said.
Mercy revealed that she was scared before undergoing the procedure and did not inform her mother because she feared being discouraged.
She said she planned the surgery with two of her friends, adding that all three of them went for the procedure around the same period.
“I was really scared. I didn’t tell my mum because I didn’t want anybody to discourage me. It was me and my two other friends. We planned it together and did it at the same time,” she said.
The BBNaija star also spoke about the painful recovery process, especially the massages that come after the surgery.
According to Mercy, the pain after the operation was intense, and she cried for days while healing.
She explained that one of the most difficult parts was not being able to sleep on her buttocks for about 14 days after the procedure.
“After the surgery, you get to have your massage and I think that is the painful part. And the fact that you won’t sleep with your butt for 14 days, you have to lie on your stomach. Then when you wake up from the surgery, it is painful. You cry for three days,” she said.
Despite the pain, Mercy said she is now comfortable with her body and happy with the outcome of the surgery.
She added that her body has now healed properly, describing the result as soft.
“It is soft now,” she said.
Mercy’s revelation has since drawn attention online, with many reacting to her honesty about the role of trends and peer pressure in cosmetic surgery decisions.
