Ivy Ifeoma, wife of Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has denied claims that she married the singer because of money.

Ivy made the clarification in a video shared on her TikTok page while speaking about relationships, wealth and financial independence.

She advised single women not to make marrying a rich man their main goal, saying women should focus on building their own financial stability.

According to her, although marrying a wealthy man can create opportunities, a woman should not depend entirely on a man’s wealth.

“This is my take on the idea of marrying a rich man and before you come for me, know that I was a millionaire before I met this man,” Ivy said, referring to Paul Okoye.

“Marrying a rich man should not be anybody’s primary goal. Why would you even want to have a primary goal of marrying someone because they are rich? At the end of the day, it is their money, not your money,” she added.

Ivy, however, noted that marrying a rich partner can be an advantage, but insisted that women must also work towards becoming financially successful.

“Don’t get me wrong, marrying rich is a very good add-on because it can open doors of opportunities for you. But what I will tell you to do as a woman is to get rich,” she said.

She further advised women to invest in themselves, adding that wealthy people are usually attracted to ambitious and hardworking partners.

Her comment has since generated reactions online, especially because of previous criticism surrounding her marriage to Paul Okoye and the age difference between them.

Paul Okoye, one half of the defunct music group P-Square, got married to Ivy after his separation from his former wife, Anita Okoye.
