In a recent chat with fellow actress Bimbo Akintola, Nigerian media personality Omotunde Adebowale-David (better known as “Lolo 1”) stirred up relationship debates when she declared:
“I would rather a man be polygamous than for him to be married and have a side-chick. That’s the one I would not contend with.”
Lolo explained that while she doesn’t personally advocate for traditional polygamy, she believes the “co-wife” model offers more honesty and evenness compared with the secretive “side-chick” situation:
She said polygamy “guarantees co-wives fairness to an extent, as opposed to ‘side-chick culture’.”
Her comments triggered strong reactions online some praised her for being blunt about relationship realities, others questioned whether she was normalising a system that can still disadvantage women.
