Idris Elba made a rare red-carpet appearance with his daughter, Isan, at the New York Film Festival premiere of A House of Dynamite.
The 53-year-old actor and rapper attended the event at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, on Sunday. Elba, usually seen at such outings with his wife Sabrina, brought his 23-year-old daughter along for the evening.
Elba looked sharp in a classic black suit and tie, while Isan stunned in a one-shouldered black shimmery dress with choker detail.
Idris shares Isan with his ex-wife, make-up artist Hanne “Kim” Nørgaard. He also has two sons, Riaze Foster, 32, and Winston, 11, from other relationships.
The new film, directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Noah Oppenheim, is an American political thriller about the U.S. president facing an incoming missile attack. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month and will be released on Netflix on October 24. The cast includes Rebecca Ferguson, Jared Harris, Anthony Ramos, Gabriel Basso, Tracy Letts, and Moses Ingram.
Critics who have seen A House of Dynamite described it as “horrifically gripping” and “more terrifying than most horror films.”
In past interviews, Isan has said she wants to follow her father into the movie industry, not as an actress but as a producer. Speaking to Tatler in 2023, she explained: “I grew up on film sets and I’ve been around that my entire life, so it was kind of a no-brainer.”
She also recalled advice from her father: “He’s always taught me to make sure you acknowledge everybody you’re around because you never know who you’re going to meet. They could be your next best friend.”
