Spanish defender Inigo Martinez has ended his time at Barcelona and is set to join Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

Barcelona confirmed his exit on Saturday, while Spanish media reported that the 34-year-old centre-back has agreed to move to the Saudi Pro League side.

Martinez played 71 games for Barcelona since joining from Athletic Bilbao in 2023, helping the Catalan club win the La Liga title last season.

Before his time at Barca, he came through Real Sociedad’s academy and spent seven years at the club before moving to Bilbao, where he played for six seasons.

The defender also made 21 appearances for the Spanish national team between 2013 and 2023.

Al-Nassr finished third in the Saudi Pro League last season, with Cristiano Ronaldo ending the campaign as top scorer on 25 goals.

Martinez’s departure will ease pressure on Barcelona’s wage bill.
