Nigerian actor Eso Dike has revealed the real story behind his journey to financial success in Nollywood and it wasn’t overnight. In a recent interview with media personality Chude, the star opened up about how it took him more than seven years in the industry before he finally earned his first ₦1 million as an actor.
Dike explained that his early days in acting were slow and challenging, but he stayed focused and patient despite the struggle. Before fully committing to acting, he trained as a lawyer, studying Law at the University of Benin and completing the Nigerian Law School — a path quite different from his current fame.
He began his career with TV roles in popular series like Tinsel, eventually gaining wider recognition with appearances in shows such as The Smart Money Woman, Game On, and Ricordi. Recent Nollywood film roles that brought commercial success further boosted his profile.
Reflecting on his journey, Dike admitted he didn’t portray his struggles publicly, saying:
“It took me more than 7 years to make my first 1 million naira bulk as an actor… before I got one million naira… it took some time. Probably eight or seven years.”
