A woman caught in a viral kiss cam moment with her married boss at a Coldplay concert has finally spoken out, admitting the incident was a one-time, alcohol-fuelled mistake.
Kristin Cabot, a former human resources executive, was caught on the giant screen in an intimate moment with Andy Byron, then CEO of Astronomer, during Coldplay’s concert in Boston on July 16.
The pair were seen cuddling before quickly pulling apart and attempting to hide once they realised they were being shown to the crowd. The moment went viral after Coldplay lead singer, Chris Martin, joked on stage that they were either “having an affair or very shy.”
After months of silence, Cabot has now addressed the incident in an interview with the New York Times, insisting there was no sexual relationship between her and Byron.
“I made a bad decision after a few tequila cocktails and acted inappropriately with my boss,” she said. “I took responsibility, and I lost my career over it.”
Cabot said the kiss was the first and only time anything physical happened between them, describing it as a “cliché mistake” influenced by alcohol and the excitement of the night.
She admitted having a crush on Byron but stressed that their relationship never went beyond that concert moment. According to her, the backlash that followed was overwhelming, as she was publicly mocked, branded an adulterer and even received death threats.
Cabot also said she felt deeply embarrassed by the situation, noting that she was the head of human resources while Byron was the company’s CEO, a dynamic that made the incident look even worse.
Following the scandal, Byron stepped down from his role as CEO just days later.
Cabot said she hopes her experience serves as a lesson that people can make serious mistakes but should not be subjected to harassment or threats.
“I want my children to know that you can mess up and still take responsibility — but no one deserves to be threatened for it,” she said.
