A woman who once accused music moguls Jay-Z and Diddy of sexually assaulting her when she was 13 is now asking a court to throw out a defamation lawsuit Jay-Z filed against her.
On Tuesday, the woman — who filed her original rape lawsuit under the name Jane Doe — submitted new court documents asking that Jay-Z’s case against her and her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, be dismissed. The lawsuit was filed in Alabama, where the woman currently lives.
She argues that Jay-Z has no grounds to sue her for statements made in official legal documents, as such claims are protected under legal privilege. She also says a TV interview she gave to NBC only repeated what was already in those court filings.
Last year, the woman accused both Jay-Z and Diddy of raping her in New York back in 2000. However, she later dropped the case. In response, Jay-Z filed a defamation suit in Alabama, claiming her lawsuit was false and damaging.
Now, the woman wants that lawsuit dismissed permanently, meaning Jay-Z wouldn't be able to file it again. Her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, had earlier asked for the same thing, claiming Jay-Z had agreed to a settlement but later backed out — a claim Jay-Z's legal team denies.
In her own filing, the woman repeats this, saying a deal had been made and Jay-Z didn’t honor it.
Jay-Z’s representatives have not yet responded to these latest claims.
