Singer Jaywon has revealed that he once faced a ₦100 million lawsuit for raising alarm about Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

The This Year hitmaker made the disclosure on Wednesday while reacting to the latest attack by suspected bandits on a church in Eruku, Kwara State.

In a post on Instagram, Jaywon shared a photo of the court document filed against him earlier in the year, saying he was punished for using his platform to speak for ordinary Nigerians.

He wrote:
“On May 25th, 2025, I was sued for raising awareness about this same insecurity… just for using my platform to speak for our people.”

Kwara, widely regarded as one of the country’s more peaceful states, has recently recorded a worrying spike in kidnappings and bandit attacks, leaving residents on edge.

Jaywon, who hails from nearby Kogi State, said the latest attack struck him deeply because Eruku is just about 15 minutes from Egbe, a town he considers home.

The singer’s revelation has sparked reactions online, with many fans expressing disbelief that an artiste could be taken to court simply for calling attention to public safety issues.

They also renewed calls for authorities to do more to protect vulnerable communities across the country.
