US rapper Kanye West, popularly known as Ye, has postponed his scheduled concert in Marseille, France, following reports that Interior Minister Laurent Nunez sought to block the performance due to the rapper’s controversial antisemitic remarks.
In a post on X, West wrote:
“After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice.”
The June 11 concert was part of West’s European tour, but authorities expressed concerns over his previous statements, including admiration for Adolf Hitler and the release of a song titled Heil Hitler in May 2025. The song, along with related merchandise, was subsequently banned by major streaming platforms.
West, 48, has faced criticism worldwide. Britain has barred him from entering the country, leading to the cancellation of a festival he was due to headline in July. Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the booking as “deeply concerning.”
West added on X:
“I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends. I take full responsibility for what’s mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle of it.”
Despite restrictions in some countries, Dutch authorities have said there are no plans to bar the rapper from performing in the Netherlands.
The postponement comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding Kanye West, whose statements and actions continue to attract global attention.
