Pop star Katy Perry has joined a growing list of celebrities urging Americans to contact their senators and oppose a proposed $10 billion increase in funding for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The campaign comes in the wake of recent fatal shootings by ICE agents during federal immigration operations in Minnesota. The agency’s enforcement capacity has reportedly grown under President Donald Trump, from about 10,000 to 22,000 agents.

Among the victims were Renee Nicole Good, 37, a legal observer shot in her car during a protest, and Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, who was shot multiple times while filming ICE officers. ICE described Pretti as a “local terrorist,” a claim disputed by witnesses and activists.

Perry shared a direct script on Instagram for her more than 200 million followers, instructing them to call their senators before January 30 to filibuster the Homeland Security Appropriation Bill, which would include the proposed $10 billion for ICE on top of its existing $75 billion budget.

“Because it’s time to turn anger into action… We will be watching your vote – and we will remember,” she wrote.

Perry is not alone. Actor Pedro Pascal called for a national strike and the disbandment of ICE, citing nine deaths linked to the agency this year. Singer Billie Eilish also shared videos online highlighting what she described as brutal ICE actions against U.S. citizens.
