Controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo has stirred debate online after questioning the source of expensive virtual gifts sent to popular Nigerian TikTok streamers.

In her remarks, she highlighted how creators like Carter Efe and Peller consistently receive high-value gifts during live sessions, noting that these digital items ranging from coins to premium icons like “lions” and “money guns”are a major source of income for streamers.

Olunloyo questioned the authenticity of these transactions, asking who exactly is behind the gifting and whether the process is as transparent as it appears. She went further to allege that some of the funds used for these gifts could be linked to fraudulent activities, including the use of stolen credit cards.

She also warned that such patterns, if proven suspicious, could potentially attract the attention of international authorities.

Despite her claims, there is currently no official evidence confirming any connection between TikTok’s gifting system and fraudulent financial activity in Nigeria.

The comments have since sparked widespread reactions online, with many users debating the legitimacy of livestream earnings and the growing influence of TikTok’s digital gifting economy.
