Former Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp rejected approaches from both Manchester United and Chelsea FC after leaving Anfield, his agent has revealed.

Klopp, 58, stepped down from his role at Liverpool in the summer of 2024, citing burnout after spending nearly nine years at the Merseyside club.

At the time of his exit, he had made it clear he could not see himself managing another English side.

However, his agent, Marc Kosicke, disclosed that interest from rival clubs did not stop, with both Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly making enquiries about his availability.

Speaking to Transfermarkt, Kosicke said Klopp could also have moved into international management, including possible roles with the United States or England national teams.

“Maybe at some point he’ll say he needs to smell the locker room again. But at the moment he’s very, very happy in his role,” Kosicke said.

He added that despite multiple offers, Klopp remains satisfied with his achievements and is proud to be among a rare group of top managers who worked at only a few clubs without being sacked.

Chelsea eventually moved on to appoint a new manager after Klopp’s exit from Liverpool, ending speculation over a possible move to Stamford Bridge.
