German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have revived their interest in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, with head coach Vincent Kompany reportedly considering him as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.

Reports indicate that Bayern are currently in talks to extend Kane’s contract amid interest from FC Barcelona and several Premier League clubs.

Although Kane is only in his third season in Germany, the England captain has already etched his name into the club’s history books, scoring 130 goals in 133 competitive matches.

However, with no new contract offer finalised, Bayern are said to be preparing for all possibilities — and Osimhen has emerged as the leading option.

The 27-year-old striker is currently on the books of Galatasaray, where he has rediscovered his scoring touch.

In his first season on loan in Turkey, Osimhen netted 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions. Now in his second campaign with the Istanbul giants, he has already scored 10 goals in the Süper Lig and seven in eight UEFA Champions League matches, including the decisive goal that secured Galatasaray’s place in the round of 16.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray permanently last summer for a Turkish record €75m following his spell at SSC Napoli, signing a deal that runs until June 2029.

According to Foot Mercato, Kompany is a long-time admirer of the former Lille forward and remembers his explosive early days in Belgium with Charleroi.

“Bayern coach Vincent Kompany greatly admires the former Lille player, whose explosive start in Belgium with Charleroi he remembers fondly. The Munich management is anticipating all eventualities regarding Harry Kane’s (32 years old) ageing and is actively preparing for his eventual departure,” the report stated.
