A 29-year-old South Korean model and reality TV personality has died after reportedly jumping from a high-rise apartment — and his family says it was because he lost everything in a cruel investment scam.

Kim Jong Suk, who rose to fame after appearing on the hit reality show Skip Dating, tragically passed away on June 4 in the city of Hanam, South Korea. According to local reports, he fell from a tall apartment block following an argument with his girlfriend. But now, his sister is setting the record straight — and her heartbreaking story has sent shockwaves across social media.

Rumors had swirled that Suk got into a violent altercation with his girlfriend, smashed a bottle of soju, and jumped when police were called. But his sister says that’s a lie. In a tearful Instagram post, she denied the claims and revealed the real reason behind his tragic end: Suk was scammed out of his entire fortune by someone he trusted.

“He didn’t attack anyone. He wasn’t drunk and violent. He was just devastated,” she wrote. “He lost all his money in a scam and was drowning in debt. Life became unbearable.”

She added that Suk had been struggling mentally and emotionally before the incident and was "completely broken" after losing everything to the fraud. The stress, she said, pushed him over the edge.

According to her post, Suk had gone to his girlfriend’s apartment that night because he couldn’t reach her and was worried. They argued, but there was no assault, she insisted. A friend who accompanied Suk reportedly broke a bottle to stop the fight, which led to the police being called. But the narrative that Suk ran to avoid arrest? "Completely false," she says.

To silence the hate and misinformation, Suk’s sister has promised to release voice recordings and text messages to clear his name. She also warned that legal action will be taken against blogs and online users spreading false claims about his death.

Kim Jong Suk’s passing has left fans stunned, with many remembering him for his modeling work and charming presence on reality TV. His family laid him to rest on June 6 and has since made his social media accounts private.

The tragic story serves as a painful reminder of the devastating toll financial scams and online bullying can have — even on celebrities who appear to have it all.
