Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has hinted at a busy summer ahead for the club, with several new signings expected to arrive at Anfield.

The Dutch defender shared his thoughts after scoring the winning goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday. The result brought the Reds closer to a record-equalling 20th league title, as they now sit 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with just six matches left. They could clinch the title as early as next weekend, depending on other results.

Van Dijk is also set to sign a new two-year contract, similar to the deal recently agreed by teammate Mohamed Salah.

Last summer, Federico Chiesa was Liverpool’s only major signing, but the Italian forward has seen limited playing time. With Arne Slot expected to take over managerial duties, fans are anticipating new arrivals to strengthen the squad.

“I believe Liverpool should keep competing for trophies in the years to come,” Van Dijk said after captaining the team for the 100th time in the league. “We’re expecting a big summer – a lot of movement. Whether it’s players leaving or joining, the board has plans in place. We just have to trust them to get it right.”

He also stressed the importance of preparing well for next season.

“There’s no major international tournament this summer, so we’ll have time for a proper pre-season,” he said. “That will give us the chance to train together, understand the manager’s ideas, and improve as a team.”

Van Dijk, 33, could soon become only the second Liverpool captain to lift the Premier League trophy. He said his connection to the club remains strong.

“I love this club. It’s clear in how I speak about Liverpool and how I give my all both on and off the pitch. That won’t change.”

With the title in sight and key players committing their futures, Liverpool is already laying the foundation for another strong season.
